The jury’s still out regarding whether or not Steve Jobs will allow applications built with transformation suites, such as Titanium, but the company is moving forward and testing a new version of the kit for RIM Blackberries.

The Register’s Cade Metz has the story.

“The open-source Titanium is a means of building native desktop and mobile applications using traditional web-development tools, including JavaScript, Python, Ruby on Rails, html and CSS,” Metz reported. “Currently, you can build native runtimes for Windows, Linux, and Mac desktops and notebooks, Android phones, and – most famously – iPhones and iPads.”

But with the release of Apple’s iOS 4.0 SDK, Jobs has essentially barred all applications translated from languages not supported by Apple.

Evidently the point of this new SDK change is rooted in Jobs’ hatred of Flash, and he will stop at nothing to make sure Flash applications never run on the iPhone or iPad.

Now many are wondering whether this war against Flash will bleed into translation tools such as Titanium’s Appcelerator.

“Effectively, what we’re doing is machine-generating Objective C and then compiling just as the developer would do if they had originally written in the language,” Appcelerator boss Jeff Haynie has told the Register. “We’re not trying to bypass everything that Apple has set up to ensure quality and performance and things like that.”
