Red Hat's Bob Young: A Slice of Open Source History

A BBC blogger, Maggie Shiels, published a story about Red Hat founder and CEO Bob Young chronicling the early days of the modern open source movement.

In the early 1990s, Young started a company called ACC Corp in his wife's sewing closet to distribute free Unix software. He then met up with Marc Ewing, who created a Linux distribution called Red Hat.

According to Shiels, Young said that he sold Red Hat as fast as Ewing could produce it.

Young walked away as Red Hat CEO in 1999 with a mountain of cash and started Lulu.com.
