Chrome Dev Channel Release Gets VP8/WebM Support
Last month, Google released the VP8 video codec as the open source WebM project. Now the Google Team has released a Dev channel update for Chrome with VP8 support.
The early reviews of the VP8 codec is that it works but it's not as good as Flash movies.
"I found Flash to be somewhat smoother in playing the videos," Chrome Dev channel user Lumo said, "so although there are no other issues, I am probably going to keep Flash. But good job."
Other than VP8 support, Chrome version 6.0.422.0 includes hundreds of theoretically squashed bugs. Here's a list.
