Nokia Announces First Open Source Symbian Phone
The N8 is Nokia's first phone since the company open sourced the Symbian mobile operating system.
"The N8 phone has a 12 megapixel camera and allows people to record and edit High Definition video clips, as well as watch web TV services," the BBC reported.
Nokia's N8 is positioned to compete directly with Google's open source Android and Apple's closed source iPhone.
According to the BBC, "Despite being the world's most popular smart phone software, Symbian has lost 'mindshare' against more high-profile software, according to industry experts."
