European Playstation 3 Owner Gets $130 Rebate Because of Linux Block
Sony killed open source Linux support on the Playstation 3 with its latest firmware update and one PS3 owner in Europe was given a $130 refund from Amazon for the hassle.
The gamer, iapetus, a moderator on the NeoGAF forum, said that Sony violated European Union regulations (Directive 1999/44/EC) by dropping Linux support after touting the feature on the PS3 - Amazon agreed.
"That's a partial refund from Amazon without returning their PS3," reported PlayStation University.
