Open Source Community Lovefest?
As 2009 winds down, open source bloggers and coders are uncharacteristically quiet and self-reflective.
Blogger Katherine Noyes at LinuxInsider writes: "Mostly gone are the fire and vitriol so often seen in the community's many contentious debates, replaced instead by discussions of a kinder, gentler nature."
Noyes points to Linux Today's Carla Schroder's recent editor's note with the headline "Hug Your Favorite FOSS Contributors Today (On the Internet, no one can see you nod)."
Schroder suggests everyone "take a minute to send a thank-you to your favorite FOSS project."
And if you see Richard Stallman, give him a big hug and kiss. I'm sure he'll appreciate it.
