Nokia's Qt 4.6 to Support Symbian and Linux-based Maemo Platform
On Tuesday, Nokia released Qt version 4.6 with support for Symbian S60 operating system and Nokia's Linux-based Maemo platform.
"Qt is an open-source framework for cross-platform C++ software development that was originally created by Trolltech in the early 90s," reports Ars Technica's Ryan Paul. "Nokia acquired the company last year and took steps to make the project more open and transparent. Nokia relicensed Qt under the more permissive Lesser General Public License (LGPL) and moved all active development to public source code repositories in an effort to encourage broader community participation in the development process."
This is the first major release that includes significant code contributed by third-party developers.
