Apple is reorganizing its executive management structure, and for the mobile development industry, the biggest news is that Phil Schiller, the senior vice president of worldwide marketing, will now be in charge of the App Store. According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, “Schiller will focus on strategies to extend the ecosystem Apple customers have come to love when using their iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV,” and he “now leads nearly all developer-related functions at Apple.” In the past, Eddy Cue, who overseas Internet Software and Services, including iTunes and iCloud, was in charge of the App Store, but this shakeup will separate App Store oversight from iTunes oversight.

In addition, Apple named Jeff Williams as chief operating officer, Johny Srouji to senior vice president of hardware technologies and named Tor Myhren as a new vice president of marketing communications.
