During the first day of its 2014 Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), Apple reported that its App Store now has more than 1.2 million apps, up from 900,000 a year ago. In addition, CEO Tim Cook said that 9 million people have registered as iOS developers—that’s a 47 percent increase in twelve months.

To help mobile development firms stand out amid all that competition, the company plans some changes to the App Store.
