Developers who have been working on apps for the Apple Watch can now submit those apps to the App Store. All Watch apps need to be written with Xcode 6, which includes the WatchKit framework.
Apple allows mobile development firms to create three types of apps for the wearable. “Glances” apps provide notifications from apps running on the user’s iPhone. “Actionable notifications” also provide tidbits of information from iPhone apps, and they also allow users to take some action in regard to the notification from their watches. The third category, “WatchKit Apps,” are those that run completely from the Watch. However, even these apps must be downloaded via an iPhone.
The Apple Watch launches April 24.
