Amazon Tests In-App Purchases for Appstore
According to Maria Ly, a developer who has been involved with the program, Amazon has been testing in-app purchases for its Appstore for at least a month. When it becomes widely available, the new feature will allow both subscription-style purchases and purchases of individual items. As with paid downloads, Amazon will take a 30 percent commission on all sales.
Researchers at IHS reported that in-app purchases were worth $970 million last year, and the market could top $5.6 billion by 2015.
