During the conference call for Google’s quarterly earnings report, CEO Larry Page slipped in a few statistics of interest to the mobile development industry. Notably, Google Play has now served more than 50 billion downloads. It passed 48 million downloads in May, around the same time that Apple’s App Store hit 50 billion.
In addition, Page said Google has paid developers as much in the first six months of 2013 as it did in all of 2012. The company has activated more than 900 million Android devices to date and activates 1.5 million new devices every day.
