Insights:

An UML tool in the cloud allows software developers and architects to work at any time, from every computer and every OS. Desktop modeling tools are difficult to install and to set up. This adds to the fact that they are often very expensive and used by experts or big companies.

By providing a cloud solution, there is no need for installation nor do you have to use important computer resources. GenMyModel has been set up to be available to use for modeling prior to coding with or without generation.

The big next step for GenMyModel in a further update is real-time online collaboration. Two or more people from two distant places in the world will be able to work at the same time in the same model, like Google Docs does. GenMyModel is becoming a social and collaborative platform on the Cloud for anyone who uses UML thanks to social networks sharing, easier service integration such as GitHub and real-time collaboration.

Because the application is on the Cloud, the user does not have to worry about saving data, making backups, updating the software or being committed to a license.

About cloud development:

Our developers consider cloud development interesting. It enables them to release new versions whenever they want, and allows them to suggest new beta features without changing the entire infrastructure. They consider it easier to develop for the cloud than the desktop because they don’t have to build an entire desktop application, which needs to have all the features right away thus causing longer development cycles. Of course, they do have to think about collaboration and data access management to avoid any conflict between users.
